Join us for ACT: Raising Safe Kids, a free program that teaches positive parenting skills for families of Wood County with children age 0-9.
Mondays from 6:00pm-7:30pm beginning September 9, 2024 - October 28, 2024. Referrals accepted until 9/2/24.
Will consist of six virtual classes and two in-person with dinner and childcare provided!
This program is available for parents or caregivers:
Who have a child under 9yrs. old or parent who is currently expecting
Are a Wood County resident
Have a willingness to learn or have challenges in relation to behaviors, emotional regulation in parent and or child, age-appropriate discipline strategies and expectations, and some difficulty understanding the impact of trauma/adverse experience on young children,
Have internet and a device with Zoom capabilities
Are available Mondays from 6pm-7:30pm
Participants will:
Discuss the concept of child development & children’s challening behaviors
Learn the concept of REACT & RESPOND
Learn how to prevent challenging behaviors through positive dicipline
Understand consequences of children’s exposure to violence
Learn how to understand, express, and control feelings
Teach children to control anger and resolve conflicts
Differentiate the difference between DISCIPLINE and PUNISHMENT
